This Privacy Policy describes how the organising committee of the International Half Marathon of Brazzaville (hereafter “the Organisation” or “SMIB”) collects, uses and protects the personal data of users of the website brazza-smib.com.

When you register online, we collect:

  • Identity: title, first and last name, date of birth, gender, nationality.
  • Contact: email address, phone number.
  • Medical: health conditions or allergies, emergency contact (used only for race-day safety).
  • Race info: category, t-shirt size, marathon background (optional).
  • Browsing data: functional session and language cookies (see section 7).

3. Purposes

  • Manage your registration and allocate your race bib.
  • Send you event-related communications (confirmation, reminders, practical information).
  • Ensure your safety and handle race-day timing.
  • Produce anonymised statistics about past editions.
  • Contact you in case of event changes or cancellation.

4. Legal basis

Processing is based on your explicit consent, collected at registration via a mandatory GDPR checkbox, and on the contractual obligations relating to your participation.

5. Retention

  • General registration data: retained for 3 years after the edition in which you participated.
  • Medical data: deleted within 30 days after race day.
  • Browsing data: session duration or a maximum of 12 months.

6. Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Access: obtain a copy of your data.
  • Rectification: correct inaccurate information.
  • Erasure: request deletion of your data (unless a legal obligation applies).
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured format.
  • Objection: object to certain types of processing.
